Dr. Cenk Aktas attended to “Congress of Turkish Scientists Living Abroad on July 12-13, 2012 in İstanbul.” organized by Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). This event brought 87 Turkish Scientists who achieved extraordinary successes and contributed to science in abroad to share their experiences with public/private sector and university representatives from Turkey. “Technology Transfer”, “Education”, “Health” and “Energy” topics were discussed to determine concrete steps to take in these areas. The main motto was to contribute to the welfare of Turkey by forming a synergy between Turkish Scientists living in abroad and as well as their counterparts from Turkey.
Dr. Derya Baran and Dr. Cenk Aktas attended to “2. Congress of Turkish Scientists Living Abroad on July 04-05, 2013 in İstanbul.” organized by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). Prime MinisterRecep Tayyip Erdogan acted as the Honoree Chairman of this prestigious event which brought around 130 brilliant Turkish scientists, who have marked their fields with notable works and patents, working in highly respected institutions in abroad. During this organization, discussions run interactively between scientists mostly working for U.S. and European universities and professors and rectors from Turkish institutions, representatives of Turkish companies and members of TUBITAK.
TESSA idea was born during the kick-off meeting of “German-Turkish Year of Science, Education and Innovation 2014" on January 24, 2014 in Berlin. After the opening speeches of the Federal Minister of Education and Research (BMBF), Johanna Wanka, and Minister of Science, Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, Fikri Işık, TESSA founder members attended to the workshop dedicated to the Bilateral Collaborations and Horizon2020 Program. First official meeting of TESSA was held in Berlin after the opening ceremony.
